Current top coat favourites

Hello!

Like many nail bloggers I'm always on the hunt for the best top coat :) Unfortunately I'm one of the lucky people that experiences polish shrinkage with many fast drying top coats so that limits my options quite a bit. My current two favourites are Essence Studio nails ultra gloss nail shine and Invincible II dry fast top coat

Essence Studio nails ultra gloss nail shine is a top coat I got at Catrice and Essence event, I took it out of curiosity and I was very pleasantly surprised. It's one of the best drugstore top coats I ever tried.
+ it's fast drying
+ doesn't give me shrinkage
+ doesn't thicken up
- can smudge stamping if not applied properly
- doesn't give that "gelish-plastic-seche-vite" effect

Invincible II dry fast top coat is only available online (at least where I live). It's a sibling of Seche vite, they're even from the same manufacturer if I remember correctly. It's supposed to be an improved version of Seche vite, modified for people who experienced shrinkage with it.
+ it's fast drying
+ doesn't smudge stamping
+ doesn't thicken up
+ keeps nail art (studs, beads) in place
+ great for smoothing out glitter
+ does give that "gelish-plastic-seche-vite" effect
- sometimes gives me shrinkage (strangely it works best over dry polish even though it says to put it over wet)

As you can see, Invincible doesn't deliver completely with their shrinkage claims. What I usually do is combine both top coats, first I put Essence Studio nails over wet polish and once it dries, I top it all with a coat of Invincible.

If you have any recommendation I'm always glad to hear them :)

Essence Hello autumn Beauti-FALL red thermo nail polish

Hello!

Beauti-FALL more like Beauti-FAIL :) I had such high hopes for this polish but unfortunately there's barely any color shift. Essence Hello autumn Beauti-FALL red is supposed to be a bright to dark red thermo polish. On me it's a medium to bright red, which isn't a bad thing but still. I'm late with this review so it's probably not available anymore. Such a helpful review eh? :)

Frankenpolish: Blood of our enemies

Hello!

Welcome to 2015! Hope you all had a great start of this year :) With me it's new year, new nail shape – back to stilettos at last <3
I love mixing different nail polish together and creating something new. Today I have a dark red jelly, packed with red and purple glitter in different shapes. It's dense enough to be opaque in three coats yet still sheer enough for the glitter to peek through. It wold probably work great over dark base too, must try it out someday.

Hello!

Today I have an amazing red polish for you, L’Oréal Paris Collection Exclusive Laetitia’s pure red that I got from the lovely UniqaPoly as a part of a Secret blogger Santa gift <3 I'm not a fan of the rounded brush but the consistency was just perfect, creamy and opaque in two effortless coats. L’Oréal Paris Collection Exclusive Laetitia’s pure red is a dark vampy red with subtle shimmer which is only visible in strong light. It's a perfect Fall/Winter/I wanna feel classy shade. Thank you again, UniqaPoly!

MoYou Fashionista 07 and L’Oréal Paris Laetitia’s pure red

Hello!
After three days Laetitia's pure red was still going strong and since I've lately been in a time hurry I decided not to change my polish but just stamp over it.
I decided to finally put my MoYou plates to use and went with Fashionista 07, a gorgeous plate full of damask patterns. Stamps were made with Essence A piece of forever.

I had it on for another four days so all together Laetitia's pure red lasted a whole week and it still looked decent on the final day. But I do have to say, I preferred the polish on its own better, the stamping combo for some reason didn't work for me.

Hello!

A short post today cause I'm dead beat (and the worst is yet to come, thanks education :)
Sometimes you need a happy, preppy color to pick you up and p2 Twinkle pink was just what I needed. Good brush, two easy coats and great formula is something I expect from p2 and they always deliver <3 Crazy holo bottle cap helps too :)
Thank you again Gin for this beauty ;)

Hello!

I am back after a short break :) Sorry for no post on Saturday, my computer broke and is currently being fixed which meant i didn't have anything to show you since all my photos were on it. Let's hope they manage to save my files and pics. Now to the better stuff: nail polish <3 Luckily I still had some pics of it on my camera cause I was too lazy to upload them to my computer :) Today I'm gonna show you a purple beauty, p2 Purple charism. Nomen est omen sounds about right, this combo of purple base and gold shimmers really is charismatic. I really hope we get p2 in drugstores some day (same goes for Kiko).
Now I'm sitting here with my nails naked, feel kinda lost and with no clue what to put on :(

Sweather stamps were made with Essence Moonless night and Born pretty stamping plate 30. Hope you like it as much as I did :)

Review: Born pretty store BP-L 007 stamping plate and Alessandro Powdery pastel

Hello!

Stamping again :) Born pretty store really stepped up their game with their own stamping plates lately. I got sent this beauty for a review and I do not regret picking it, just look at it <3 It comes with a variety of patterns, full nail and smaller ones. Some are etched better than others but all images are workable. On a photo below you can see how the patterns look on paper. Images are not perfect because I only did one try with each pattern to give you a realistic idea how they stamp.
For this mani I used the second pattern in the top row and the third pattern in the bottom row. Base polish is Alessandro Powdery pastel, a pastel greyish blueish lilac polish that I obviously can't quite define :)

Hello!

Today I have a fun mani for you inspired by Alice in Wonderland. I got these water decals to test from Born pretty store and I immediately knew what to do with them :) For the base I used Yes Love 337 which is an amazing white, cheap and opaque in two easy coats.
This is also Miss Gins Bday inspired mani (she's celebrating her birthday today, go show her some love :)

Hello!

Today I have for you a gorgeous polish that I got at the Essence&Catrice event, Catrice Feathered Fall Skies´ Force. Skies' force s a gorgeous green polish with blue flecks and subtle purple shimmer. It has an interesting finish between chunky shimmer and glass flecks. Either way it's gorgeous. This were two easy coats plus topcoat. The removal was surprisingly easy too. It even has a normal straight cut brush <3 Good job Catrice.

Essence A hint of love

Hello!

Today I have a pretty little red thing for you. It says on the bottle that it's a favorite and I can see why <3 Essence A hint of love is a pretty red polish packed with pink leaning shimmers. I know the combination of red and pink may seem strange to some but believe me it works. Application was great, two easy coats, the only complaint I have is the weirdly rounded brush but I always complain about that (seriously I practically only do cleanup with Essence and Catrice polishes). Oh well :)

Review: Born pretty store army water decals

Hello!
For the last Born pretty store review I picked another water decals. Lately I've been loving them, water decals are fast and easy to work with, no messy clean up required and can be removed as fast as regular polish.
For the base I used Essence Rebel delight, my go to nude <3
Decals were great to work with, the only complaint that I do have is that they looked much bigger on the website, at least to me. I thought that the army print stripes are gonna be big enough to cover your whole nail so you can imagine my surprise when I saw them in person :) Had to improvise a bit but still, I liked the end result.

Hello!

I have no clue what's happening to me but I'm starting to crave spring and summer. I hope some bright colored nails will do the trick :) Barry M Pink flamingo is a gorgeous creamy coral with strong pink undertones (or should I say pink with some orange in it). The formula is great and it caused me no problems. Can't wait to wear this in the summer as a pedi <3

Essence Black dress and white tie

Hello!

Upgrade time :) My life is still quite hectic so I wanted to make sure that my mani stays put on my nails and what better way than to slap on some glitter? I went with Essence Black dress and white tie, a lovely mix of big black and white hexagons and small silver glitters. This polish is packed with glitter so one easy coat will do and there's no need for fishing the glitter out. Unfortunately Essence is discontinuing this one so if you like it I would suggest you hurry up and try to snatch it before it's too late.

Kleancolor Holo chrome

Hello!

As you may have noticed I stopped doing Catch of the month posts a while ago cause I'm really trying to minimise my buying obsession. In fact, the majority of my polish stash is still untried (horror, I know). So instead of buying new things I decided it's time to shop my stash and look for forgotten pretties in my helmer.
I bought Kleancolor Holo chrome quite a while ago. It's a beautiful combo of a blue jelly base packed with holo glitters and deep blue glitters which unfortunately aren't that visible. You could probably get it opaque in a few coats but I decided to layer it over p2 So cool!, a metallic blue. I loved the combo, metallic base gave it depth and the holo glitters looked bomb in the sun <3

Juicy love tape

Hello!

Nail art blog post tittles give me the worst problems ever :) Ok maybe not the worst but still #FirstWorldProblems I never really got into the nail tape thing, I always admired tape manis but they seemed like too much hassle. Let me tell you, they really are a pain in the ass but the end result is well worth it. For the base I used my very much lovedEssence Juicy love and then layered Kleancolor Matte black on top with the help of nail tape. Sealed everything with top coat and I was good to go :)

Coffee mani

Hello!

I've been feeling pretty shitty the past few days and I have a mani to match :) I think it's nice to show less successful attempts too, bloggers are only humans and our nails don't always come out perfect.
The problem with this is:
1. I hate brown colors on nails but I went with a brown theme for the original coffee look
2. Plate has big, delicate images with lots of thin lines
3. I don't have a brown polish that would be great for stamping (go check point 1 again)
I still committed to it and wore this mani for full four days but probably only because i felt so sick nail polish was the last thing on my mind :)

Current faves

Hello!

Today I'm gonna try something new on my blog, monthly faves :) I love reading this kind of post on other blogs so I thought why not. I'm not sure yet if this is gonna be a regular thing on my blog so I didn't wanna title this post February favorites :)

Makeup

My first favorite is BourjoisRouge Edition Velvetin the shade Nude-ist. It's far from nude but I adore it, it's the perfect dusty pink color, works great with my skin tone and goes well with all makeup looks. The formula is amazing too, it starts as a cream and then dries in minutes to a matte finish that doesn't bulge. It's a bit pricier (Essence and Catrice girl here) but worth every cent.

I've been pairing Nude-ist with I <3 makeupcontour palette in I Heart Definition Fair which I got in a giveaway at Low maintenance beauty blog.  I'm not over the moon about the bronzer and highlighter, bronzer is too dark for me at the moment and highlighter is pretty but pink based and it clashes with my yellow skin undertone. Why I would buy this palette in a heartbeat is the blush. Again like Nude-ist, a dusky matte rose shade with nice pigmentation and great staying power. This blush and lip cream have been my go to makeup products this month, appropriate for all occasions.

Body care

I have so many cuticle care products I tend to neglect them. Burt's beesFarmer's Friend Hand Salve is one of them. I initially bought it for my cuticles but with 85 grams of product it soon became clear it's gonna go bad before I'd use it all up :) I started using it on any dry spots, cuticles, hands, elbows, knees, feet, you name it and my skin loves it. My only complaint is the smell, it has a strong herbal scent with rosemary and lavender, which I'm not a fan. Still better than the typical "I wanna scrub my toilet with you" lemon scent (yeah I'm looking at you Lemony flutter).

Speaking of feet, Essence super-soft toe separators have been a lifesaver. I am someone who can't stand unpolished toes so I do pedis all year round. The classic foam toe separators were really painful for me to use (I have weird feet?). This separators are made from soft memory foam type material and i don't even feel them. The only problem I have is the mismatched color, why can't both separators be the same color?

Dove purely pamperingshower gelshave been quite a cult fave and after trying them I see why. These baby are so moisturising and hydrating its insane. I have very dry skin and since using Almond Cream with Hibiscus and Pistachio Cream with Magnolia shower gels I can actually go a day or two a week without putting moisturiser on after showering. Ingredient wise they are shit but for results like this I'm ready to turn a blind eye to them.

Random

If you're a fan of coffee I would strongly recommend Barcaffee Irish coffee. This stuff is so good I could drink it all the time.

I been trying to watch more movies and the one that stuck out the most this month was What we do in the shadows. It's a mocumentary showing the life of vampires in modern days. It's such a funny and endearing movie and also a refreshing break from the typical Hollywood stuff.

My biggest fave is probably something special that I've never done before. Nika from beautyfullblog.si organised face painting for a masquerade holiday for kids from Youth care centre Malči Belič Ljubljana. To be honest I was so scared :) I've never done anything like this before and I was so worried I'm gonna fuck thing up, give the kids bad face paints and ruin their holiday. Luckily it all turned out great, they gave us such a warm welcome and I had so much fun doing it. Being in a place like this, thinking about what these kids already went through really gives you another perspective on things and so much gratitude. So thank you again Nika for making it happen. Also this was my quick "lets work and put hair away from my face" ponytail, it would be nice if anyone told me "yo, your hair is fucked up, fix it" so I look super classy and put together on all photos :)

This turned out to be a super long and super rambly post :) I hope you'll like the break from typical nail polish posts as much as I did.
